ResearchAndMarkets.com is not the only market research organization expecting the Asia-Pacific regions web hosting industry to keep growing. Fortune Business Insights expects a CAGR of 15.1% between 2018 and 2026, with the market expected to hit $183.18bn by that time.

For ResearchAndMarkets.com, building and maintaining customer relationships is a vital prerequisite for survival in todays environment, and with Covid-19 still lingering, websites are seen as a critical medium to achieve that goal. It helps build and nurture relationships in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer environments, it was said.

Besides customer relationship management, there are numerous other advantages of using a professional web hosting service, such as lower upfront costs that come with licensing website creation software, easy access to backup solutions, antivirus tools and spam filters.

Using professional web hosting services means no backend infrastructure to worry about, and enables a more flexible website design. Storage space is highly scalable, while cloud-based delivery models can also offer dynamic bandwidth benefits, too.

SBI, HDFC, PNB, ICICI, Axis Bank customers should be beware of this banking fraud! – India TV News

SBI, HDFC, PNB, ICICI, Axis Bank customers should be beware of this banking fraud!

State Bank of India, ICICI, HDFC, Axis Bank and Punjab National Bank (PNB) customers have been warned about a serious security flaw. According to a recent report, cybercriminals are trying to lure Indian users to disclose important personal information using the mobile apps of the aforementioned banks. The report suggests that suspicious messages prompted users to submit an application for disbursement of the income tax refund.

The cybercriminals are attaching a link with these messages that looks like an income tax e-filing web page. While users believe that this could benefit them, the hackers take advantage here to extract information from the users. The banking apps that have been targeted include State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI, HDFC, Axis Bank and Punjab National Bank (PNB).

The report further claims that the links belong to the US and France giving us a hint at the location of these hackers. It has also been said that the campaign is collecting personal as well as banking information from users and that users are likely to suffer a huge financial loss due to this type of trap.

Furthermore, the report claims that all IP addresses associated with the campaign belong to some third party cloud hosting providers. The entire campaign uses the normal or plan HTTP protocol instead of secure HTTP. This means that anyone on the network or the Internet can intercept traffic and obtain confidential information in normal text format to misuse against the victim.

Using malware in these banking apps, the hackers ask users to download an application from a third-party source instead of the Google Play Store. This application then asks the administrator to grant all rights and allow unnecessary use of the device. When the link is opened, ITR users are redirected to a landing page, which looks similar to the official government income tax e-filing websites.

Now, the users are asked to click on the green colour and proceed to the verification steps. Users are asked to submit personal information such as their full name, PAN number, Aadhaar number, address, PIN code, date of birth, mobile number, email address, gender, marital status and banking. Apart from this, they are also asked to fill in information such as account number, IFSC code, card number, expiration date, CVV and card PIN. All of this information is being directly transferred to cybercriminals.

"CloudFest will be the place to meet the international cloud ecosystem" – Christian Jger, CEO, CloudFest – Web Hosting | Cloud Computing |…

CloudFest is considered the #1 business-to-business event for the cloud, hosting and internet infrastructure professionals across the globe. Taking place online for the first time ever, CloudFest 2021 runs March 23-25. It is the best way to engage with customers, partners, and peers: with over 7,000 professionals eager to do business, its no surprise that so many brands use CloudFest as the launchpad for their latest solutions.

We recently interviewed Christian Jger CEO, CloudFest. Read on.

C: We started the event as a round-table for other hosting providers in our hometown, Cologne. Shortly after, we invited suppliers and software providers to attend our meetings as well so we could benefit from a consolidated product update and exchange our views and learnings. Even in these old days, the focus has already been laid on networking and great content. As the event grew, we decided that we need to add some secret sauce to stick out as an event and our solution was simple: Dont use typical congress hotels or trade fair areas use something special and thats how the idea to run the show in a theme park came along!

But we did not only grow, but we also attracted a more diverse audience. And on top of that, our attendees altered their product offerings from plain (web) hosting towards sophisticated cloud solutions. The name change to CloudFest should symbolize the journey we went with our partners: the event became a festival of friends and our products shifted towards the cloud. The name CloudFest was born.

C: Indeed, the topics are gaining momentum, and this is also why we dedicated an entire day at this years online edition of CloudFest towards AI. Devices have become smart; computers and scripts have become intelligent. The backbone to enable this intelligence is our industry. The same is true for IoT and especially big data.

In my previous role in the investment sector, we analysed huge companies with extensive data sets coming from different streams. Without intelligent computing allocation and software tools that are capable to handle such an amount of data, we would never be able to do a fair analysis of any company. So big data is no longer a buzz word, it has become reality years ago already.

C: Returning to CloudFest feels really like coming home. I still know many of the team members personally and was in an exchange with them during the shows while I worked at other companies.

In a retro perspective, my journey has helped me to better understand the needs of hosting companies as well as the needs of our partners. PlusServer is one of the leading managed hosting providers in Europe while GoDaddy is targeting end-customers and web professionals. Later, we invested in companies like cPanel or Plesk who are exhibitors of CloudFest and again have very different expectations of an event.

I was able to learn a lot and experience the industry from various angles and I am positive this will help in the future.

C: CloudFest will cover three main topics.

Day 1 will talk about the intelligent cloud. We will learn how infrastructure evolves over time becoming smarter, applying the latest AI and IoT technologies.

Day 2 is actually my personal favourite as we talk about web pros. It is a super diverse topic that really drives our industry. Wix.com, GoDaddy Pro or DigitalOcean are changing the way how the customers use cloud services. We have invited Aaron Draplin to speak, the name may not directly ring a bell, but he designed logos for Obama, Nike or Ford. So, the day will not only talk about technology but will have the actual user, the actual web pro in mind.

The last day covers security topics and whats really cool: We can all meet the former boss of James Bond. Sir Alex Younger was responsible for cyber protection at the British intelligence service MI6 if there is one person that knows about cyber threats, its him.

Attendee figures are difficult to estimate but we expect them to be in line with what we know from offline events. We can already see how diverse our audience got and from where our attendees login.

C: The biggest change is of course people cannot meet at the Collosseo Bar in Europa-Park . Online events have a lot of strengths but indeed also limitations. The team worked hard and chose the platform we use carefully to deliver a digital version that is really close to the on-site experience. The agenda is full of first-class content in different locations, just as people know it from the offline world.

Since CloudFest is online, we can also have dedicated tracks for different time zones so please watch the Indian track carefully to learn about one of our largest and most interesting markets! Our platform also facilitates easy networking. We have dedicated networking time slots, speed-dating, and breakout rooms and tables where attendees can join other people who are sitting at a virtual table or bar and automatically start a group video call. We even took the concerts online and I can already reveal we are even trying to get the roller coasters digital so its definitely a good idea to register for free with the DHN code today and join us!

C: Besides the already mentioned speakers I am especially looking forward to the networking sections and digital booths of our partners. Though we are all in contact via email and whatnot, CloudFest will again be the place to meet the international cloud ecosystem and I cannot wait to talk to familiar faces and business partners that became friends over the year.

Its really about time to see each other again, at least digitally.

C: Clear answer: I became a father during the first wave of Corona in 2020. Every extra minute I have goes into spending time with my family and beloved ones. There is no such thing as family time but: CloudFest comes really really close to that.

Cloud Entitlements Are the New Security Perimeter: Wipro State of the Cybersecurity Report 2020 – Security Boulevard

By Raj Mallempati, COO of CloudKnox Security

As organizations modernize IT and adopt hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures to support more distributed business processes involving human and non-human identities, the traditional security perimeter becomes outdated. Identities today are the new security perimeter and have become an emerging attack vector to exfiltrate business-critical data. In fact, 52% of organizations prioritized scaling up secure cloud migrations during the COVID-19 crisis, while 87% stated they would continue to scale up secure cloud migrations after the COVID-19 crisis. With the accelerated adoption of public cloud workloads, the number of identities with privileged access to infrastructure is increasing exponentially.

At the time of publication of the Wipro State of Cybersecurity Report 2020, more than 40,000 permissions could be granted to identities across the key cloud infrastructure platformsAmazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure and VMware vSphereand nearly 50% of these permissions can be classified as high-risk with the ability to cause catastrophic damage if used improperly. Which is one reason that an astonishing 40% of all responding organizations still consider leveraging cloud infrastructure and applications one of the top cyber risks organizations face.

This trend has rendered high-risk identity permissions to be one of the most menacing threat vectors to cloud infrastructure for years to come. Analysis of the top 40 breaches in the Wipro State of Cybersecurity Report 2020 indicates that 50% of all breaches involved loss of user credentials. This emerging threat will force enterprises of all sizes to rethink how they grant, manage, and monitor permissions and how they secure their hybrid and multi-cloud environments with the goal of Zero Trust Access in mind.

Data collected from more than 125 risk assessments, uncovered the staggering fact that over 95% of all identities are grossly over-provisioned (i.e., granted a substantial number of high-risk permissions). Even more alarming is the fact that these identities used less than 10% of the permissions granted to perform their daily tasks.

The dangerous delta between permissions granted and permissions used is what we refer to as the Cloud Permissions Gap. This gap has quickly emerged as the number one risk to public and private cloud infrastructure, and is proving to be fertile ground for both accidental and malicious permissions misuse and exploitation. As more identities (human and non-human) leverage hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures and deploy exponentially more workloads, the Cloud Permissions Gap is growing wider and more dangerous. The inability to properly grant, manage, and monitor these permissions across a multi-cloud environment is accelerating the permissions creep, which in turn has resulted in over-permissioned, privileged identities becoming the number one security risk.

The research indicates that 72% of organizations are storing data on cloud environments, which can easily be accessed if the over-permissioned identities are not right sized. This is incredibly troublesome as Zero Trust architecture calls for organizations to have a firm grip on all identities permissions via successful implementation of least privilege because when it isnt executed effectively, irreparable damage can occur. This damage extends beyond the breach or loss of data to broken customer and stakeholder trust. In order to achieve least privilege, the Cloud Permissions Gap needs to be addressed on an ongoing, automated basis.

Security and infrastructure operations teams are being asked to do the impossible and are finding it increasingly difficult to manage and secure the dynamic nature of hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure platforms while keeping up with the explosion of new over-permissioned machine and human identities, accounts, resources, and services. The CloudKnox Activity-Based Authorization Protocol enables these teams to easily create activity profiles for each unique identity and resource with access to an organizations growing cloud infrastructure. In combination with the CloudKnox Just Enough Privileges (JEP) Controller, customers can automate and simplify permissions right-sizing across VMware, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, resulting in significant cost and time savings. Additionally, CloudKnoxs support for workloads on Kubernetes Containers, and serverless functions makes it the only fully comprehensive Cloud Infrastructure Entitlements Management (CIEM) available on the market.

Ultimately, the risk management strategy around cloud hosting will have a gaping hole if security and risk teams do not create a clear strategy to handle this problem while they plan to increase the pace of digitalization and cloud migration. With 87% of the surveyed organizations keen on implementing Zero Trust architecture post COVID-19, the issue of high-risk permissions cannot be ignored. The urgency of the problem requires overarching visibility, remediation and monitoring of permissions on a granular scale. At the end of the day, properly permissioned identities are organizations last line of defense when credentials have been compromised.

Security operators are faced with exponentially increasing attack vectors from which to protect their organizations. In fact globally, Cloud Infrastructure Security and Container Security are among the top 10 seed-funded technologies in the past 3 years.
