Dell Drives Public and Hybrid Cloud Adoption with vCloud Trial, Global Expansion

To make it easy for customers to test and adopt secure, enterprise-class hybrid cloud solutions, Dell is expanding availability of its Dell Cloud with VMware vCloud Datacenter Services into Canada and Europe, and offering an introductory trial offer. PMC has announced a 12Gb/s SAS Flash manager (SFM-12G) for the next wave of enterprise solid state drives (SSDs), claimed to be the first end-to-end 12Gb/s SAS solution from the protocol controller to the SSD controller.
The PM8304 SFM-12G enables more than 300,000 I/Os per second (IOPS) in a 2.5 SAS SSD, more than double the performance of today's 6Gb/s SAS SSDs. When paired with the industrys highest performing protocol controller, the SPCv 12G, cloud server and big data storage manufacturers can deliver a stunning 2.4 million IOPS in an eight-drive, enterprise-class flash subsystem.
The PM8304 SFM-12G combines the manufacturer's proven 12Gb/s SAS technology with the industrys lowest latency and innovative maxLIFE adaptive error correction, enabling storage equipment and drive manufacturers to deliver true enterprise-class SSDs.
