The 28 Best Backup and Disaster Recovery Companies for 2020 – Solutions Review
Backup and disaster recovery solutions are vital for organizations that want to maximize uptime and protect themselves from threats like cybercrime and natural disasters. Backup and disaster recovery companies are steadily advancing, and it is expected that nearly half of organizations will replace the backup applications they deployed as recently as 2018 in the coming months. This shows how critical it is for companies to remain up-to-date with backup and disaster recovery planning. When business-critical enterprise data is on the line, data management leaders should consider forward-looking technologies first.
Though backup and recovery practices have existed for years, there have been major changes and challenges in the space. New developments in deployment options like the proliferation of cloud technologies, as well as recovery techniques, pricing models and venture-backed startups all promise to disrupt the market. Vendors also continue to struggle when protecting server-virtualized environments, emerging next-generation databases, very large databases, and big data applications. The need exists for more simplistic functionality, though just how that aligns with the complex needs of enterprise organizations remains to be seen.
Selecting the best backup and disaster recovery company to work with can be a daunting task, and were here to help. Thats why our editors have compiled this list of the 28 best backup and disaster recovery companies to consider if youre looking for a new solution.
Check out our online backup and disaster recovery best practices section for even more guides, advice, and how-to content.

Major new collaborative tools feature in Premiere Pro update – RedShark News
As Sundance Film Festival begins, Adobe announces a preview of a forthcoming collaborative addition to Premiere Pro entitled Productions.
Productions is a panel which provides a toolset to manage projects, share assets, and organize these assets in either a collaborative or solo production environment.
Productions will appear as a panel in Premiere and allows for starters the division of projects into smaller components. The examples that Adobe cites might include organization by reels, scenes, seasons, episodes, audio or visual elements. The project owner can grant permissions to specific users to reference or even retrieve items and of course restrict others.
Since Productions panel merely references assets already on shared local storage or cloud storage, users can retrieve or reuse specific elements without creating new files, saving on storage and preventing project bloat. And of course sharing is OS agnostic allowing Windows and MacOS users to play nicely with each other.
Productions does not require project owners or users to license Creative Cloud for Teams. Any individual or even a single application subscriber can share projects as long as the user has a valid Premiere Pro license.
Productions is designed for flexibility in security as well as storage. Shared local networks or high performance cloud storage are both supported.
All projects in a Production have identical settings, even the scratch disks. All editors who have project permissions can then access preview files, for example, generated by another user. And users can track who is working on a component of the project to track its progress.
Adobe has not yet announced a release date but as a feature upgrade rather than a standalone new Creative Cloud application, expect it to appear in a forthcoming update to Premiere Pro.
This video from Adobe demonstrates Productions workflow.

Google takes on AWS and Azure in India with Airtel cloud deal – TechCrunch
Google has inked a deal with Indias third-largest telecom operator as the American giant looks to grow its cloud customer base in the key overseas market that is increasingly emerging as a new cloud battleground for AWS and Microsoft .
Google Cloud announced on Monday that the new partnership, effective starting today, enables Airtel to offer G Suite to small and medium-sized businesses as part of the telcos ICT portfolio.
Airtel, which has amassed over 325 million subscribers in India, said it currently serves 2,500 large businesses and over 500,000 small and medium-sized businesses and startups in the country. The companies did not share details of their financial arrangement.
In a statement, Thomas Kurian, chief executive of Google Cloud, said, the combination of G Suites collaboration and productivity tools with Airtels digital business offerings will help accelerate digital innovations for thousands of Indian businesses.
The move follows Reliance Jio, Indias largest telecom operator, striking a similar deal with Microsoft to sell cloud services to small businesses. The two announced a 10-year partnership in August last year to serve millions of customers.
AWS, which leads the cloud market, interestingly does not maintain any similar deals with a telecom operator though it did in the past. Deals with carriers, which were very common a decade ago as tech giants looked to acquire new users in India, illustrates the phase of the cloud adoption in the nation.
Nearly half a billion people in India came online last decade. And slowly, small businesses and merchants are also beginning to use digital tools, storage services, and accept online payments. According to a report by lobby group Nasscom, Indias cloud market is estimated to be worth more than $7 billion in three years.
Like in many other markets, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google are locked in an intense battle to win cloud customers in India. All of them offer near identical features and are often willing to pay out a potential clients remainder credit to the rival to convince them to switch, industry executives have told TechCrunch.
The three companies have also launched a range of tools and conducted training in India in recent years to help mom-and-pop stores easily build presence on the web. Last week, Amazon said it was investing $1 billion into its India operations to help about 10 million merchants come online.
