How To: Quickly Check Your OneDrive Storage Space Usage in Windows 10 – SuperSite for Windows
Earlier this week, Microsoft took the first step in returning the very popular placeholders feature back to OneDrive in Windows 10 with the OneDrive Files On-Demand feature.
This feature has been missing for two years, just prior to the Windows 10 release in July 2015 it was pulled from the service, and currently Windows Insiders have begun testing this on their Fast Ring devices.
You can go check out our coverage of this feature, a screenshot gallery, and a hands on demo video if you are curious about how it is going to work moving forward.
In the interim I wanted to share a quick tip on how you can quickly check how much storage you are using in OneDrive and how much space is left for your cloud based files.
Note: This tip works in the OneDrive client on all versions of Windows 10 that are currently available and only takes two clicks.
Click One
Find the OneDrive icon in your system tray and right click on it to bring up the context menu.
Click Two
Click on the Settings option in the context menu.
Now you can just glance up in the top left corner of this dialog box and you will see how much cloud storage you're using on OneDrive and what the total amount is that you have available for this account.
Two clicks - well actually you will need a third click to close this dialog box once you have looked at your storage statistics.

Pure Storage Aims For The Enterprise, Cloud Storage Business With Major Software Updates – CRN
All-flash storage vendor Pure Storage Tuesday expanded the software that accompanies its high-performance hardware with advanced clustering and quality-of-service capabilities.
The company also used its Pure//Accelerate 2017 conference, held this week in San Francisco, to unveil a number of hardware updates to its all-flash storage arrays.
The changes come as innovation in the software capabilities of all-flash storage has struggled to keep up with improvements in the sheer performance of the hardware, said Matt Kixmoeller, vice president of products for the Mountain View, Calif.-based vendor.

"Tier-one storage offers the highest flexibility and performance, but not the fastest innovation," Kixmoeller told CRN. "We want to end the compromise. We're bringing in technology to close the gap."
Pure Storage is doing just that with the introduction of its Purity//FA 5.0 software, the latest version of the company's software for managing data and services with its all-flash hardware, Kixmoeller said.
The biggest addition to the Purity//FA software is ActiveCluster, a new active-active metro stretch cluster capability that allows an application to run synchronously in two data centers up to 150 miles apart, or on separate racks within the same data center, Kixmoeller said.
For example, he said, a customer running Oracle Real Application Clusters on eight servers could have four of the servers in one data center and four in another. "If there's a disruption in one data center, the application keeps running in the other," he said.
Purity//FA 5.0's ActiveCluster deploys quickly with only four commands and does not require the addition of a third-party server or cloud to mediate between the two parts of the clusters.
"This is the last of the high-end resiliency services that we have not had before at Pure Storage," he said.
The quality-of-service capability of Purity//FA 5.0 can now be assigned on a per-volume basis, Kixmoeller said.

Amazon Drops Unlimited Cloud Storage Plan – Small Business Trends
Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is the latest company to ax unlimited cloud storagefollowingother large storage services, including Microsofts OneDrive. The company announced it will no longer offer unlimited storage plans, instead opting for only two tiers.
Small businesses have been using Amazons storage and cloud services because of the availability it provides. It is a company with a global infrastructure and pricing models the vast majority of small businesses can afford.
The new tiers include a 100GB storage option for $11.99 per year and 1TB for $59.99. If you are looking for additional storage, you can increase the amount at 1TB increments, also at $59.99 per TB. On the FAQ page, Amazon says this payment and storage structure is available for up to 30TB.
For current customers, the change will not take effect until their subscription expires. Once it is expired, it will be renewed with the new rates. If you have auto-renew, make sure you are aware of the cost for the amount of storage you have. That $60 price can quickly jump to hundreds of dollars if you have many terabytes.
If you dont have auto-renew, you can go to theManage Storage page and see how much storage you are using. Then opt-in to the plan that best suits your needs.
If you are a Prime Member, you will still get Amazon unlimited storage for your photos along with 5GB of additional storage, such as documents or videos.
If the content you have stored is more than the free storage quota on your account, Amazon will classify the account as an over-quota status. At this point, you can view, download, and delete content, but you wont be able to upload anything.
Amazon is providing a 180-day grace period so you can add more storage space, or delete content to bring you within the allotted storage you are paying for. Blow is another look at the new payment tiers:

Lately, the Amazon Drive has been standing tall as a top notch cloud storage anyone can get a great deal. You are entitled to unlimited cloud storage for your files at just $60 for a year; this is arguably an unprecedented deal.
Regrettably, Amazon is bringing its $60 subscription for an unlimited storage year to an end you can only have archive storage of 1TB. It will entail an expensive archiving in the sky somewhat.
Following the modification of the $60 package, there are now two packages. You can either opt for the 1TB for $60, or 100GB for $12 per year. However, you may want an extra TB that costs $60, but all additional storage cannot exceed 30TB.
While this is a good pricing for such storage, old users who saved several files of large sizes with a view to enjoying an unending storage may be annoyed with this new idea. Then again, it shouldnt come as a surprise when you have your subscription renewed automatically. Current users of the unlimited storage will have their plan moved over to the 1TB for $60 monthly as soon as their current subscription expires. Therefore, if the new development doesnt suit you, its high time you considered a move away from Amazon.
While the modification on subscription may seem to be unfavorable to some, everyone still stands a chance of having unlimited and free photo storage if you sign up for the Amazon Prime. Likewise, those who sign up for the Amazon Drive gets a whooping free 5GB data.

Amazon has ended its policy of providing free unlimited cloud storage via Amazon Drive, opting instead to give its consumer and business users a smaller amount of free capacity in the Amazon cloud and charging for capacity beyond that.
Amazon Drive is a service that allows users to store photos, videos, and documents in the Amazon cloud. It provides secure and private access to those items on any connected devices or web browsers.
Amazon Drive had let users store unlimited data and unlimited photos in its cloud. However, according to an Amazon FAQ, users will now be limited to 5 GBs of free cloud storage capacity.
Starting Thursday, customers will be charged US$11.99 for between 5 GBs and 100 GBs, and US$59.99 for up to 1 TB of capacity. Customers requiring over 1 TB will pay an additional US$59.99 per TB up to 30 TBs, Amazon said.
Amazon Prime members will also be limited to 5 GBs of free cloud storage capacity, but capacity required for storing photos will not count against that limit, essentially allowing them to store an unlimited amount of photos in the Amazon Cloud.
Customers will have 180 days to transition their Amazon Drive to their choice of plan. Amazon suggests downloading the data to a PC or mobile device, deleting data over 5 GBs, and then uploading to Amazon Drive.
After the 180-day grace period, any data more than 5 GBs that has not been moved to a new plan will be deleted starting with the most recent uploads until the excess capacity has been eliminated, Amazon said.

Former FBI head James Comeytestified before the Senate Intelligence Committee today. A lot of questions focused on the written statement he provided yesterday, in which Comey detailed his uncomfortable conversations with the president. In addition to the "Lordy, I hope there are tapes" and "There should be no fuzz on that" quotes, there were quite a few revelations that will rock Washington, D.C., for months to come:
Trump's tweet caused a leak: On May 12, Trump tweeted that Comey better hope there were no tapes of their conversations. This tweet prompted Comey to ask a friend to leak his exchanges with Trump to the press. The former FBI head said he hoped it would prompt the appointment of a special prosecutor.
Trump's actions are part of the investigation: Though Comey made it clear that Donald Trump personally was not under investigation, Trump's conduct was still being scrutinized. In his words, President Trump's actions were under "the scope of" the agency's inquiry.
There's more about Jeff Sessions we don't know: When asked about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Comey alluded to knowing more about why Sessions recused himself from the Russian investigation than what has already been reported. Comey said Sessions recused himself for a variety of reasons, including "facts that I can't discuss in an open setting that would make his continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic."
Is John McCain doing okay?The senior senator from Arizona questioned Comey at the end of the session and it made little sense. He rambled for a long time about the FBI's investigation of Hillary Clinton, which ended last July, and seemed to try to connect it with the current Russia probe. Comey seemed perplexed by the line of questioning, as did nearly everyone else watching.
Comey says the White House lied about Flynn: When Donald Trump fired Comey, the president said it was because the agency was in disarray. Comey called those "lies, plain and simple." Moreover, Comey said that former national security adviser Michael Flynn was under criminal investigation when he was fired. The New York Times reported that Flynn warned Trump about this investigation before he was given the role, but the White House denies this claim. With this latest testimony, it seems clear that the Flynn investigation was ongoing and the White House likely lied about it.

Cloud storage firm NetApp launches its first startup accelerator in India – VCCircle
US-based data storage and management company NetApp has announced the launch of its first startup accelerator in Bangalore.
The programme, called NetApp Excellerator, is open to startups with solutions in Internet of Things, cloud, Big Data and analytics, machine learning, virtualisation, data security, data management and storage, a company statement said.
Under Excellerator, NetApp will provide an equity-free grant of $15,000 to theselected startups upon completion of the four-month-long programme. The startups will continue to own their intellectual property, and NetApp would not seek a stake in it.
The programme will provide startups with collaboration and productivity tools, a co-working space at the companys global centre of excellence in Bangalore, and networking opportunities with potential investors, partners, and customers. They will have access to NetApps platforms and technologies, tools, human resources, marketing, legal and tech support.
NetApp Excellerator will offer technology and business mentorship to the selected startups as well as access to markets and investors to realise the full potential of their ideas and products in the global marketplace, the statement added.
NetApp India director Ajeya Motaganahalli will be driving this programme. Through the NetApp Excellerator programmewewill assist these startups with guidance on building business relevance, exposure to our technology, partners and customers, as well as venture capitalists, and explore opportunities where we can take them to market, Motaganahalli said.
Of late, tech and financial giants like Google, Bosch, Barclays and Axis Bank, among others, have shown their eagerness to both mentor and fund early-stage startups.
This week, 13 startups graduated from the first batch of Bosch Indias accelerator programme Discover, Nurture and Accelerate, or DNA.
Technology startup accelerator Zone Startups Indiawhich is backed by Toronto-based Ryerson Futures, the investment arm of Toronto-based Ryerson Universitylast year partnered British banking and financial services firm Barclays Plc to launch the latters Rise accelerator programme in India. Another technology major, Oracle, has kicked off the maiden edition of its startup accelerator programme.
According to a recent Nasscom and Zinnov report, India now has the third-highest number of startup incubators and accelerators in the world after China and the US. With 140 incubators and accelerators, India has inched past Israel, whose count stands at 130. However, the gap with the top two is still yawningChina and the US have over 2,400 and 1,500 incubators and accelerators, respectively.
