Search committee appointed for dean of Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs – Princeton University

University President Christopher L. Eisgruber has appointed a 11-member committee to search for a new dean of Princetons School of Public and International Affairs(SPIA). Cecilia Rouse, the schools dean since 2012, has been nominated by President-elect Joe Biden to chair the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA).

Mark Watson, the Howard Harrison and Gabrielle Snyder Beck Professor of Economics and Public Affairs, will serve as acting dean beginning Jan. 4.

The search committee will be chaired by Pat Sharkey, professor of sociology and public affairs. Other members, including eight faculty, one undergraduate and one graduate student, are: Janet Currie, the Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs; Rafaela Dancygier, professor of politics and international affairs; Alex Glaser, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and international affairs, and co-director of the Program in Science and Global Security; Jonathan Mayer, assistant professor of computer science and public affairs; Nolan McCarty, the Susan Dod Brown Professor of Politics and Public Affairs, and director of the Center for Data-Driven Social Science; Sanyu Mojola, professor of sociology and public affairs, and director of the Office of Population Research; Eduardo Morales, professor of economics and international affairs; Betsy Levy Paluck, professor of psychology and public affairs, and deputy director of the Kahneman-Treisman Center for Behavioral Science and Policy; Christian Potter, Class of 2022; Susan Ragheb, SPIA graduate student.

The committee will recommend candidates to Eisgruber, who will appoint the new dean, subject to approval of the Board of Trustees.
