1000s of sensors to sniff out evidence of quantum gravity in Antarctica – Interesting Engineering

A large-scale experiment in Antarctica may solve one of the greatest enigmas in physics: the existence of quantum gravity.

The University of Copenhagen researchers are part of this scientific exploration taking place at the IceCube Neutrino Observatory located near the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica.

It consists of thousands of sensors covering vast areas to detect and monitor neutrinos the ghostly particles reaching Earth from outer space.
