The cloud has become an ubiquitous term that even the average consumer is expected to understand. If you watch the commercials on television or read the tech trades, youd think that cloud computing was in full swing, turnkey ready, set, go.

The reality for many folks, however, is a little different. And while a proper implementation of a cloud-based solution will reduce costs, help make you much more adaptable to change, and raise the level of work you can accomplish, the truth is there is still a lot of fear about this new technology. As Henry Ford quipped, The only change people like is the one that jingles in their pocket. And in this instance, it couldnt be more true, particularly for government agencies who are struggling with how this fits into their IT agendas. So what is it that could be so scary about a cloud? The term alone denotes visions of a peaceful cumulus cloud floating against a clear blue sky.

These are real issues with real substance behind them. For most of them however, the government should be ready to move forward with the right planning and understanding of the Cloud, security, change management, and most importantly the drive to make the government more efficient and adaptable.
